Prospective Volunteers

Who We Are

The UBC Let’s Talk Science Partnership Program is a network of graduate and undergraduate students in all disciplines of science and engineering who share a common interest in educating the public and youth in science.

Why volunteer?

  • Be a role model for youth
  • Share your knowledge and passion for science
  • Inspire youth to develop an interest and enthusiasm in science
  • Develop teaching, communication, and leadership skills

  • What we do

Our core program is our Partnership Program which pairs our volunteers with teachers from Vancouver schools (K-12). As a volunteer, you have then have the opportunity to visit these classrooms to perform hands-on, minds-on activities and lead discussions on science careers and your research.

In addition, we are active within the community and host a number of events throughout the year in which volunteers are invited and encouraged to participate in:

  • All Science Challenge
  • Brain Awareness and Brain Bee, with the Brain Research Centre, Faculty of Medicine, and Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute
  • Rural trips, with Genome BC
  • Science Fairs, such as the District and Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fairs
  • Science Fair Mentorship Programs, with Learning Exchange
  • Summer Camps, with CEDAR
  • And much more!
